- 02
You walk out with a dressing.
- 03
Stitches come out within two weeks.
- 04
The scar fades for about a year.
How it works
The lesion is examined before anything is removed.
The order matters more than the technique. A lesion is examined first — what it looks like, how it has changed, whether it has the features that make a specialist the right destination rather than this clinic. Only then is removal discussed.
The removal itself is a local anaesthetic, an excision with a margin appropriate to what the lesion appears to be, and closure with sutures.

01
The assessment
The physician examines the lesion and decides whether removing it here is the right answer.
02
The excision
Local anaesthetic, removal with an appropriate margin, and closure with sutures.
03
The stitches
If there are stitches, they come out after seven to fourteen days, sooner on the face.
Your visit
One appointment, 30 to 60 minutes.
Assessment and removal usually happen in the same visit, if that is the right answer.
- 01
First 15 minutes
The assessment
The physician examines the lesion, takes a history of how it has changed, and says whether removal here is appropriate.
- 02
Before anything is cut

Same appointment
The excision
Local anaesthetic, then removal and sutures. You feel pressure but not pain.
- 04
7 to 14 days later
Stitches out
